
Davis named recipient of Eric A. Walker Award

Brian Davis, majoring in African-American studies in the College of the Liberal Arts at Penn State, has been named the 2018 recipient of the Eric A. Walker Award. The award is presented annually to the student who has contributed most to enhancing the reputation of the University through extracurricular activities. Walker was president of Penn State from 1956 to 1970.

Davis receives Community Service Award

Penn State’s Black Caucus, the representative body for students of colors and their clubs, held its 9th annual Ashe Awards Dec. 7 in Alumni Hall. “Ashe” is a Yoruba word that means conceiving power or producing change. The first Ashe Awards show was in 2009, with 300 students in attendance. Nine years later, the Ashe Awards continue to be a positive staple in the community. Every year, this award’s show brings students to celebrate the presentation of superlatives within the people of color (POC) community at Penn State, University Park.

Davis recieves Leadership award

More than 100 students, faculty, and staff crowded into Heritage Hall in the HUB-Robeson Center Friday night to celebrate the fourth annual Black Men on the RISE event, hosted by the Black Student Union (BSU). Everyone was dressed in their finest for the awards ceremony, which honored black men at Penn State for their leadership, community initiatives and personal achievement.

Davis leads University initiative to collect items for Hurricane Harvey

Many Penn State students have been collecting donations for all the hurricanes hitting the country, but one group of friends is making its way down to Houston, Texas to bring relief first-hand to the survivors of Hurricane Harvey.

Student Leader Brian Davis Awarded with Rock Ethics Institute Award

The Penn State Rock Ethics Institute created the Stand Up Award 10 years ago to honor Penn State undergraduates who, as ethical leaders, have the courage and fortitude to take an ethical stand for a person, cause or belief. Brian was awarded for equity & diversity.

Davis recognized with Jackson Lethbridge Tolerance Award

Brian A. Davis, a junior majoring in African-American studies, criminology and sociology in College of the Liberal Arts at Penn State, is the recipient of the 2017 Jackson Lethbridge Tolerance Award.
The award recognizes a junior, senior or graduate student for outstanding efforts to enhance the understanding of diverse cultures and create a community where all individuals are accepted and valued equally. The award is named for its benefactor, a Penn State alumnus.

A Call to Action: Davis speaks on campus climate after election

Davis, the former president of the Social Justice Coalition; an activist organization that works to ensure students get what they believe they deserve out of Penn State. They hold pep-rallies, initiate peace walks on campus and more, with a focus on what’s going on around them and in society as a whole. This mainly covers contemporary news that the group feels they need to address within the community, a prime example of this is the president-elect, in which Davis believes caused a lot of drama throughout election week.

Diversity and inclusion were the talk of the night as the Board of Trustees held a town hall meeting last night at the Hintz Alumni Center in regards to the new “All In” campaign.
This was the first time that the Board of Trustees had this kind of meeting being that the invitation was for students only.

Penn State Student Brian Davis releases Book Titled ‘Penn State Treasure’

Davis began writing the book his sophomore year after realizing his lack of involvement during his freshman year, and hopes the book will inform incoming students about everything Penn State has to offer. He hopes his words and visuals will encourage students to get a quick start in engaging with the community. He’s announcing the release on Sunday at the Multicultural Student Orientation in Heritage Hall at 5:30 p.m.

Davis organizes campus initative to take 5,000 bottles to Flint, Michigan with 22 Students
